About the program
On 11 December 2013, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted a decision establishing a new EU programme supporting education, training, youth and sports initiatives across Europe, Erasmus+.
The Erasmus+ programme came into force on 1 January 2014 and replaced the previous programmes: “Lifelong Learning” (and its sectoral programmes – Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig), the Jean Monnet Action, the “Youth in Action” programme and five other programmes (including Erasmus Mundus and Tempus). For the first time in the history of European Union educational programmes, initiatives related to sports will also be supported.
The quality mark entitling a university to apply for funds under the Erasmus+ programme is the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education – ECHE.
The application submitted by the Warsaw Management University for the Higher Education Charter was positively assessed by the European Commission and the university received the ECHE Charter, which authorizes it to conduct all activities under the new Erasmus+ program.
The central unit implementing and coordinating tasks related to internationalization is the Office of International Cooperation (BWM). The Office deals with matters related to: initiating bilateral agreements of the University, supporting and organizing the mobility of students and employees, applying for funds under the Erasmus+ program, monitoring international cooperation implemented at the University, supporting University units in the field of international cooperation, consulting and disseminating information in the area of individual foreign scholarships for students and employees. Efficient implementation of these statutory tasks also requires the involvement of the entire academic community in the process of internationalization of science, both central and faculty units.
One of the most important activities in the field of internationalization of the university is the Erasmus+ program. MANS’s participation in the Erasmus+ program, run by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System in Warsaw (FRSE), thanks to its recognition and effectiveness in the development of the University, its employees and students, favors the search for foreign partners to implement joint scientific and teaching and research and development initiatives. The goals and assumptions of participation in the Programme are included in the “Declaration of Erasmus+ Policy”. The Erasmus+ Programme at the University is run by the University Coordinator for Erasmus+ with the active support of substantive coordinators for individual Fields of Study. An important aspect of the University’s internationalisation is the ongoing cooperation with the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and the systematic application and implementation of the “Welcome to Poland” programme, along with training and promotional activities in this area. The international cooperation of MANS is implemented mainly on the basis of bilateral agreements with foreign partner universities in the field of academic exchange, scientific and research cooperation and publications, and the Visiting Professor Programme.
